Brubaker’s reviews are both personal and educational, which makes clear his love of movies. After college, he began highlighting what he liked and disliked about the numerous films he watched. “It’s taken me about two years to sort through all of my reviews to compile 365 for this book. What I’ve done that I haven’t seen anyone else do with movie reviews is use the create your own adventure style,” says Brubaker. “The book can help people on movie night, when they’re wondering what to watch.” Since moving to Cleveland, he has spent many hours at Cedar Lee Theatre and Capitol Theatre, as well as the Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art, all of which are mentioned in the book. The author encourages readers to be open to the experience of watching movies made before they were born and to not rely too much on Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming service algorithms. The book contains highly rated pictures from countless genres and for any mood. Download the ebook for free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription through early May.
“Byron does a great job of making reviews both interesting and relevant. I have been bored to tears by some excellent movies and really loved some awful ones! After reading Byron’s review, I have a pretty good idea if a movie is important or entertaining. Sometimes both, sometimes neither, but I am definitely adding to my “movies to see” list!” –Jeff P.
