Tiah Short, Brainchild and Publisher

Tiah Short, better known as DC Bookdiva, is the president and CEO of DC Bookdiva Publications.  Her publication company is home to some of the best authors in the urban lit genre.  Her author Dutch’s book Dynasty, her first national best seller, was nominated for best street fiction of the year in 2010.  Her author Eyone Williams won male author of the year for 2012.  With over twenty-five titles under her company DC Bookdiva is one of the most successful indie publishers of her kind.  She is also the founder of the very popular Urban Literary Review (blogtalkradio.com/urbanliteraryreview), which is an online talk show that is dedicated to everything about the urban literary world and all the people and events in it.  The show has constantly spotlighted what is new, innovative, and important in the literary world.  DC Bookdiva is the driving force behind one of the most informative blogs online, Straight No Chaser, where she continues to share important literary information with all those seeking direction in an industry that can be a maze for one that has no guidance.  DC Bookdiva’s mobile book store is the top of the food chain in Washington, D.C., and has been servicing the area for close to ten years.  As a result of hard work and dedication her mobile book store was voted the 2013 Independent Bookstore of the Year.

 

Benjamin Janey, Staff Blogger

Benjamin Janey, author of the urban novel Up The Way has been with Dc Bookdiva Publications from day one. He writes in several genres, penning several titles, including Mr, Goodnight. With a background in newspaper reporting, he continues to raise the bar. He explains his writing career as such, “Everyone has a gift and it just took me a little longer to unwrap mine.”

 

 

Wesley “Godfather” Hunter

“GODFATHER” Hunter is an incarcerated author from Los Angeles, Ca. He has  written several books covering a variety of genres, to include self-help/how-to/advisory, autobiography, poetry, urban romance, erotica and street lit. Godfather has even taught urban lit during his many years of incarceration. He makes an added effort to lace his writings with history, social-political consciousness and other such pearls of wisdom while penning  in a style which many have compared to the likes of James Patterson, John Grisham and Michael Connelly.

 

 

 

Sherri Harrigan, Staff Blogger

Sheri Henry-Harrigan started writing at the age of twelve as an outlet for depression. In March 2012 her first project Tales of the Broken Hearted was published. Since then she has penned several titles. She started writing strictly urban fiction. Her most recent work, The Imperfect Love Series is more geared toward the romance genre. As she continues on with her writing career, she plans to move into the crime fiction and thriller genres. Besides writing she is pursing her other passion of becoming a lawyer. Sheri lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.

 

Jannelle Moore, Staff Blogger

Jannelle is the author of “Wild Cards”, “Thirst” , “Thirst II” and “Love’s Hangover”, and is a fresh face in African -American  Contemporary fiction, spending time on Amazon’s Hot New Releases list in African-American women’s fiction for two of her four titles.  She’s also a freelance journalist, who also credits her father suggesting her to write books. The proud North Carolina A&T alum  lives in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.

Randall Barnes is a teen author, internet radio personality, public speaker, journalist, mentor and entrepreneur who currently resides in Macon, GA. Randall is already renowned for his positive, realistic, moral driven writings. To date, his forthcoming novel, “The Diary of Aaliyah Anderson” has garnered over 25,000 views on Wattpad.com and worldwide acclaim. Randall is also a staff writer for the popular website urbanintellectuals.com.
